Hunter
Playing as a Hunter in The Prey: you are the game's single Hunter. Wait out the head start, track every Prey by GPS pins, close the gap, and tag them.
Your Goal
You are the Hunter, the only one in the game. Tag every Prey before the game timer reaches zero. If you tag them all, the Hunter wins.
Head Start: Hold Your Position
When the game starts, you cannot give chase yet. Stay close to where you begin (straying too far during the head start earns you a penalty), and you cannot tag until it ends.
Prey positions already appear on your map, so use the wait to pick your first target and plan your approach.
Active Hunt: GPS Tracking
When the head start ends, the hunt is on. Prey GPS positions appear as pins on your map. Positions update on a fixed interval, so check the map regularly.
Pins show where the Prey was when the last update fired, not where they are right now. Close the gap fast.
Tagging a Prey
When you reach a Prey’s physical location, tag them in the app. The tag takes effect immediately, and the Prey does not confirm it. That Prey is eliminated.
There is no in-app way to dispute a tag, so tagging is honour-based: only tag a Prey you have genuinely reached. Do not chase endlessly, because the game has a timer.
Working the Field
You hunt alone, so plan your route. The shared map lets you track every Prey at once. Prioritise the ones nearest the playfield edge, where escape routes are fewest, and herd them toward corners where they have nowhere to run.
