ROLES

Game Creator

The Game Creator role in The Prey: define the playfield, share the join code, assign Hunter and Prey roles, and start the game.

Your Responsibility

The Game Creator sets up the game before it begins. You control the playfield, the lobby, and role assignments. Once the game starts, you play as a Hunter or Prey, and the Creator role ends at launch.

Four Pre-Game Steps

1. Define the Playfield Draw the boundary polygon in the app. The playfield is the GPS area within which the game is played. Keep it tight enough to be exciting, large enough to allow real hiding.

2. Share the Game Code The app generates a unique join code for your game session. Share it with all participants before the game. Players use it to join the lobby.

3. Choose the Hunter In the lobby, tap one player to make them the Hunter. Everyone else is automatically Prey, since there is only ever one Hunter. You need at least one Prey, so a game needs at least two players in total.

4. Start the Game When all players are ready, launch the game. The head start begins immediately. Prey scatter. The Hunter waits.

Role Assignment Rules

  • Every game has exactly one Hunter and at least one Prey.
  • Everyone who is not the Hunter plays as Prey.
  • The Game Creator can make themselves the Hunter, or stay as Prey.
  • Once the game starts, the Hunter choice is locked.
