GPS Signal Lost

What to do when your GPS signal drops in The Prey: restore background location, move to open sky, and get your position transmitting again.

  1. Check your device’s status bar. A GPS icon with a slash or no icon at all means location services are off or restricted.
  2. Open your device Settings → Location and confirm location is enabled system-wide.
  3. Open Settings → Apps → The Prey → Permissions → Location and confirm it is set to Always Allow.
  4. If the app is in the background, bring it to the foreground. Some devices suspend background GPS when battery saver is active.
  5. Disable Battery Saver mode during gameplay. It restricts background app activity and can cut GPS transmissions.
  6. If signal is still lost, force-close the app and reopen it. The GPS service restarts on launch.
  7. Inform the Game Creator if your signal was lost for an extended period. Decisions about whether that time period counts are at the Game Creator’s discretion.
  8. On Android: if the background service notification disappears from your notification shade, the foreground service has stopped. Reopen the app to restart it.
